Saturday is full of adventure. Of course we have the League of Cincinnati Steampunk’s monthly salon at Arnold’s Bar and Grill. As usual we will meet for food, drinks, and pleasant conversation at 8pm. With the heat and vacations the last few salons have been relatively thin in attendance but this week we are back up to expected 30 or so, including a report from Soap Box Media who is doing an article on cos-play, so be sure to dress to impress.
For our Lexington readers Rebel Riot Revue Burlesque is performing with Switchblade Syndicate at Cosmic Charlie’s. Both of these acts are unbelievable and combined they will blow your mind. Unfortunately Lexingtonites, you may have a bit of a dilemma on your hands, because Drunk & Sailor are hosting a Beer & Booty Trolly Tour around Lexington that same night. So do you want a free pub tour around Lexington along with a pirate serenade or pin-up classic burlesque with a punk edge and rockabilly band? I’m just glad I don’t have to choose.
For readers further afield there is Ford Theater Reunion and The Extraordinary Contraptions playing together in Atlanta on August 5th. Several readers have recommended the Dublin Celtic festival in Dublin Ohio, which runs all weekend. It’s their 25th anniversary this year so I’m betting it will be a good show. And in Richmond Indiana you can check out a motorcycle rally for a good cause with the Thunder of Love: Festival for a Cure to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
So there you have it folks, no excuses for sitting at home and staring at the walls all weekend. Unless, like Travis Fessler, this is the first weekend you’ve had off in about 20 years. In that case we will give you a pass.
